The most common mistake people make planning Bhutan is choosing a theme — festival, trek, culture — and then discovering it does not fit the days they have. Start with the honest number of nights you can give the country, then look at what is possible inside it. Five days is Paro and Thimphu. Eight opens Punakha and Phobjikha. Eleven or more reaches Bumthang, or a base camp.
